Employee Spotlight: Morgan Jackson

Edward

At Tandym, we know that success is a team sport, and every month, we take a moment to recognize one standout player who goes above and beyond. Our Teammate of the Month isn’t just someone who gets the job done; they embody our values, uplift those around them, and make a lasting impact. Get to know Morgan Jackson, a Director on our Tech Delivery team and Tandym’s Teammate of the Month for November 2025!

Who are you?

I grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia, about 30 minutes outside of Richmond — though I pretty much always claimed Richmond as home. I’m one of four girls, with a twin sister (I’m older by one minute!) and two younger sisters. With a mom, dad, stepmom, stepdad, and two step-siblings, I come from a big, blended family.

I went to a small private high school, did gymnastics with my twin (even though I was way too tall and honestly terrible at it), and eventually found my true love: volleyball. I played travel and club, and almost continued in college.

I headed to Virginia Tech, back in the glory days when we were actually good at football. During college, I worked at Cracker Barrel (the blueberry pancakes are my favorite!), joined a sorority, and lived the full campus-life experience. I graduated in 2020 during COVID, which unfortunately meant receiving my diploma in the mail instead of walking.

After graduating in 2020, I started a fully remote job and moved to Richmond, where I am originally from. Over the next few years, I relocated several times—first back to the Blacksburg area near Virginia Tech, then to North Carolina for my husband’s job, and finally back to Virginia, where we plan to settle for good.

My husband and I met on Tinder back in college, have been together for eight years, and got married in 2024. We’re a laid-back couple who love spending time outdoors — fishing, exploring nature, and even just relaxing while watching our neighbor’s cows on their farm (my favorite animal!). We now call a small town in Southwest Virginia near the Tennessee border home, and we’re excited to welcome our first child in February. For now, it’s just the two of us and our beloved fur babies: Baxter (12) and Winnie (3).

If you had to submit a dish to a company potluck competition, what would be your entry and why?

I’m absolutely a baker, not a cook. My husband handles all the fancy, elaborate meals at home. But when it comes to baking, I will proudly put money on my banana bread. It’s my signature dish, loaded with extra chocolate chips, never nuts (because adding nuts should honestly be illegal!)

I’d show up to the potluck with my beautiful, perfectly baked banana bread, and I stand by this: even people who claim they don’t like bananas end up loving it. It’s that good.

Who were your role models / inspirations growing up?

I know everyone says this, but genuinely, my parents. They divorced when I was really young, but they both built incredible careers and lives, and I’ve always looked up to them.

My mom is the Director of Emergency Management and Communications at a reputable hospital in Virginia, running On-Call Systems and basically doing superhero-level work every day. My dad is the CEO of a large financial services company based in the Midwest, which still sounds wild to say out loud. They both started at the bottom and worked their way to the top of their fields, and they inspire me to push hard and show up every single day. I am so proud to be their daughter!

And of course, I’m always motivated by the healthy competition of trying to beat my twin sister at… well, pretty much anything. It’s a twin thing.

I’m also incredibly inspired by my team. We’re a tight-knit group who collaborates daily, has each other’s backs, and truly works together to succeed. Being surrounded by people like that makes it easy to stay motivated.

If you could live in any state (that you’ve never lived in before), what would it be and why?

I’d definitely head somewhere down South, probably South Carolina or Georgia. I love that easy, laid-back lifestyle. I am not a hustle-and-bustle person (or a parallel parking professional) in the slightest.

Both states have that old, rich history I adore, plus plenty of Southern vibes that just feel like home to me. The only non-negotiable? I’d absolutely invest in a really, really good AC unit because I may enjoy the rustic lifestyle, but I’m not trying to melt.

What’s one “hidden talent” or non-work skill you have that (most) coworkers don’t know about?

One of my hidden talents is that I’m really good at being organized. Like borderline Marie Kondo-level. Give me a messy room, a cluttered drawer, or a chaotic pantry, and I’m in my happy place.
I’m also surprisingly good with dogs. I basically learned everything from YouTube and managed to teach my dog, Winnie, more than eight tricks when she was a puppy. Honestly, I could probably train people at this point.

Overall, I’m just an extremely clean, organized, everything-has-its-place kind of person, and I take a weird amount of pride in it.

You’ve just been selected to represent Tandym in a bobsled competition against our biggest rivals in the staffing industry. What other 3 coworkers are you picking for your team?

If I had to pick a team to represent Tandym in a bobsled competition, I’d go with Stefan Hein, Makayla Ledford, and Jenna Key. Stefan just seems to know everything, so I trust he’d get us to the finish line safely (and probably faster than anyone else). Makayla is my confidante and partner-in-crime. She’s tall, strong, and always ready to tackle challenges with me. And Jenna brings the friendliness and bright energy we’d need to stay in high spirits if we hit a rough patch. Honestly, with this squad, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t just survive the ride, we’d make it look effortless!

Did you find Tandym, or did we find you?

I actually came to Tandym through the Metro Systems acquisition. Before that, Metro Systems had reached out to me on LinkedIn while I was in the job market after graduating from college, and I felt like one of the lucky few they connected with. When the acquisition happened, I’ll admit I was a little nervous and definitely made up scenarios in my head that freaked me out more than they should have. I tend to always think the worst! But honestly, I love it here. Everyone was so welcoming, the transition was seamless, and Tandym has opened up so many opportunities for all of us.

If you had to use a fictional character to describe your work ethic, who would it be and why?

I’d say Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. She’s intelligent (not to brag), detail-oriented, and by the book. She likes rules and always seems prepared, with an answer for everything. She’s curious and proactive, which really resonates with how I approach my work. Plus, she has amazing hair, and honestly, who wouldn’t want to be a wizard or witch?

What was it like to hear your name as the winner of November’s Teammate of the Month?

I hate to say it, but I was completely shocked. There are so many amazing people at Tandym who deserve this honor. It’s such a great feeling to know that people appreciate me, especially since I’m usually my own harshest critic.

Things have been extremely busy lately. We’ve doubled my team, I’ve been doing a lot of training, and with the holidays approaching and Data Center jobs keeping us on our toes, it’s been non-stop. I really wanted to jump up and down on camera when my name was called, but I didn’t think that would be very professional. Still, it’s just so cool that out of 300 internal employees, they chose me. I’m still giddy and even sent the news to all my friends and family!

Rumor has it you’ve undertaken an awesome renovation project of your home. What was your inspiration and which part are you most excited for?

I probably should’ve used this as my hidden talent: I’ve got a good eye for design.

When we bought our house, it was a beautiful, big, outdated home sandwiched between two farms (which, by the way, is my dream!). As soon as we got the keys, we gutted the kitchen. We love color and nice things, but we also wanted the house to feel homey, not like one of those places where you’re afraid to touch anything. Every single room has needed some love, but the bathroom and kitchen are where we’ve really focused, adding color and personality.

Huge shoutout to my husband, who built a forest-green tile shower straight from Pinterest, and he nailed it. I’m just so excited to see everything come together and feel like our home.

What are your Tandym goals for 2026?

My biggest goal for 2026 is to continue growing in management and leadership. My team has grown to eight amazing people, and I absolutely love building it out. We’re working on creating what I like to think of as an empire of talent. When people think of Data Center talent, I want them to think of my team and me. I also want to keep hitting milestones and, honestly, making good money along the way doesn’t hurt either.

Playlist Roulette: Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa. Keep one forever, listen on occasion, never listen to again. Who’s it going to be?

I’m probably going to ruffle some feathers here, but Taylor Swift is gone. She’s just too poppy for me, and everything lately is starting to sound the same. Sabrina Carpenter is my forever. I love her songs; they’re on repeat constantly, and I’m such a fan that I want to go to one of her concerts. As for Dua Lipa, I’d listen to her on occasion. She’s fun, has that pep in her step, and makes great dance music.
