For college students and recent graduates, finding the right first career opportunity can be challenging. You want more than a line on your résumé. You want real experience, meaningful mentorship, and a chance to build skills that will set you up for long-term success.
That’s exactly what Tandym’s internship program is designed to provide. Every year, interns gain hands-on exposure to sales, recruiting, business development, and client relationship management while learning directly from experienced professionals across the organization. For many participants, the experience becomes more than just a summer internship. It becomes the foundation for a career.
Just ask Bayley Storrier, Tori Sposato, and Cooper Richards, three former Tandym interns who chose to continue their careers with the company after graduation. While each followed a different path, they all point to the same reasons for staying: meaningful work, supportive mentorship, professional growth, and a culture that invests in people.
At Tandym, interns aren’t limited to observing from the sidelines. Instead, they’re immersed in the business, gaining exposure to the sales and recruiting processes that help organizations find the talent they need and professionals find opportunities that advance their careers.
For Bayley, that exposure helped her discover a passion for sales. One of the most impactful moments came during a Lunch and Learn session led by Tandym leaders Julie Kirsch and Mike Millan.
“They demonstrated a live example of handling a challenging client phone call,” Bayley recalled. “Watching them navigate the conversation, I realized that this was the type of work I wanted to pursue. It was challenging, rewarding, fun, and exciting, which instantly hooked me.”
Tori credits the internship with helping her understand both the staffing industry and the fundamentals of professional success. “The lunch-and-learns were great because they introduced me to the basics of corporate America, like networking, cold calling, building your brand, and more,” she said. “It was perfect for me as a rising senior in college.”
For Cooper, exposure to both the sales and delivery sides of the business provided a valuable perspective. “I got to see both the sales side and the delivery side of the business, which gave me a better understanding of how everything connects,” he said. “By the time I became full-time, I already had a solid foundation to build on.”
One theme appeared in every conversation: support. Whether it was teammates, managers, executives, or colleagues from other business units, each former intern described an environment where people genuinely invested in their development.
“What made me want to stay was the support I received,” Tori said. “Everyone made me feel welcomed and valued, especially when I had questions.”
Bayley shared a similar experience.
“The people and the opportunities the team and organization provided stood out to me,” she said. “During my conversations with various Tandym employees, I consistently heard how much they valued their colleagues and their jobs, which is something not many organizations can claim.”
For Cooper, seeing leaders invest time in his growth helped him envision a future with the organization.
“My team was really supportive. They took the time to work with me and teach me, which helped me learn a lot,” he said. “I always felt like they wanted me to succeed.”
Beyond day-to-day guidance, interns also have opportunities to learn directly from senior leadership.
“It’s rare for interns to have direct learning opportunities from top-level executives,” Bayley noted. “That was one of the highlights of my experience.”
One of the biggest differences between classroom learning and professional experience is seeing the impact of your work firsthand. For both Tori and Cooper, candidate placements became defining moments during their internships.
“The first defining moment I had as an intern was when a candidate I had sourced was successfully placed and started at one of our clients,” Tori said.
Cooper had a similar experience. “I phone screened a few candidates that I had sourced, and one of them ended up getting placed,” he said. “That was the first time I really saw the impact of my work. It proved to me that I could do the job and that my efforts actually led to real results.”
Tori also highlighted the opportunity to present a final project to leadership as a pivotal moment. “The feedback we received was incredibly validating and exciting,” she said. “It highlighted how much I had learned over the summer and solidified the possibility of continuing my work while in school.”
These moments help interns develop confidence while reinforcing that their contributions matter.
One of the unique advantages of interning at Tandym is the opportunity to explore different teams, industries, and service lines. From healthcare and technology to professional services and workforce solutions, interns gain visibility into multiple areas of the business.
Bayley credits networking throughout the organization with helping her identify the right long-term fit.
“My internship provided me with the opportunity to connect with many individuals across the organization,” she said. “I learned the importance of networking and asking questions, which ultimately led me to the best team for my skills and career growth.”
Tori believes spending time with multiple teams helped her better understand how Tandym supports clients.
“Each vertical at Tandym truly ties together,” she said. “It’s important to have a broad understanding of how all the teams and services work in tandem to support our clients.”
For all three employees, the internship became more than a summer experience. It became the starting point for a professional network, a foundation of business knowledge, and a launchpad for their careers.
Looking back, Cooper says one of the biggest benefits was the relationships he built.
“The internship set me up for my career and helped me build a strong network of people,” he said. “By the time I was ready to start full-time, I had already become comfortable with the environment and had a solid foundation of relationships that made the transition much easier.”
Bayley agrees. “Tandym provides a wide range of staffing solutions, giving young professionals the chance to explore various career paths and discover the best fit for them.”
And when asked whether she would recommend the internship program? “Absolutely.”
For students and recent graduates looking to gain hands-on business experience, learn from experienced professionals, build meaningful relationships, and accelerate their career growth, Tandym’s internship program offers an opportunity to do all of that and more.
